why?

As soon as the twins were born last August, we went into high gear to produce these Original Down Hankies for Bode and Asa.

But as soon as everyone experienced the simple, lightweight warmth fo the Down Hanky, we had to quickly add more products.

Which led us to all this!

Why NOT?

I left college looking for something - anything - else. I wanted to work with my hands - to make stuff.

I ended up in Jackson Hole Wyoming playing with feathers and down - learning the mysteries of this fluffy natural insulation. Experimenting with extremely light-weight designs and high “fill power” down, we created weirdly unusual down sleeping bags - mainly for use in the high mountains of Wyoming and Idaho in the summer.

One of our customers - a fellow instructor in the Outward Bound School in Idaho - while camped in the high reaches of the Sawtooth Mountains - opined one morning that our sleeping bags were so light they reminded him of a “down hanky.”

Well, it stuck. Here we are, these many years after, recapturing that dreamscape.
